SCRC News – September 12, 2013

Cruisers,

A bit of other SCRC news you may be interested in:

Tom Kaugher shares a joke with "First Lady" Dee Weigold

As you may know, Tom Kaugher stepped down as First Officer of 179 some weeks ago.  Subsequent to this he was involved in a motorcycle accident and has had to have some surgery to correct his injuries.  At last check, he had been moved to a rehab facility in his hometown of Greenville and was in the process of getting better.   Please keep him and his sweetie in your thoughts and prayers.

With 179 in need of a First Officer, Rod Armstrong, founder of that chapter, has decided that his contribution to the SCRC was best done in the form of leading 179 and as such, he’s stepped down as State Officer and returned to the First Officer position for 179.  He’s handed the State reigns to Kip Carson of Columbus’ 344 Chapter.   If you joined us at the awesome picnic a couple of weeks ago, you’ll probably remember Kip as the “Master of Cermonies” (and all around trouble maker) for the event.  Besides being part of the driving force behind the successful picnic, Kip is already working to get chapter officers together, plan next year’s picnic and raise it to the level of State Rally.

I for one, am looking forward to the future of SCRC and I’ll be doing everything I can to keep things moving forward and supporting these activities.   Thanks to everyone that’s been participating in our events and rides.   Please spread the word to other riders you know to join us and perhaps nudge a few of our currently inactive members to take notice of the fun they’re missing.

Metamora, Morristown and the Kopper Kettle

Cruisers,

Dale Cummins and Bev Dalessandro are putting together an awesome ride to Metamora and then on to Morristown to eat “family style” at the Kopper Kettle October 12, 2013.  This ride will be held in conjunction with riders from 179.  Starting point is East St. and South St, SR725 and SR122 in Gratis.  Kick stands up at 10AM with a gas/rest stop planned at the 50 mile mark for those that haven’t gassed up prior to meeting in Gratis.  We hope to see you there!

SCRC Ohio Picnic 2013

Cruisers,

The first (hopefully annual) Ohio State SCRC picnic is coming up Saturday August 31, 2013 at Buck Creek State Park: 1901 Buck Creek Ln, Springfield, Ohio 45502-8876

The event starts about 10:30 am and will have fun, food and games.   Dee and I will be grabbing breakfast at Cracker Barrel on SR 122 in Middletown about 0830 and leaving to ride to Buck Creek about 0930.  There are already several members planning to join.  Feel free to join us for breakfast, meet just for the ride, or meet us there.   We need RSVPs though for the food count.  Let us know at what point to expect you as well.

Covered Bridges – July 27, 2013

Hey Cruisers,

Steve and Dee’s ride for July has been moved to Saturday July 27, 2013.  Join us as we tour the covered bridges of Preble and Montgomery County.   We’ll stop at several for pictures and exploration and we’ll actually have lunch inside one!  Plan to pack a lunch, or grab something when we stop in Lewisburg.

Kickstands up from Cracker Barrel on State Route 122 at I-75 at 0930.   Feel free to join us for an option breakfast there about 0830.  We look forward to seeing you.   RSVPs appreciated!

Steve

PS: Here’s one of the bridges we’ll be visiting

Dinner Ride – Main Street Station – Cedarville

Cruisers, don’t forget, as long as the weather holds we’ll be having a dinner ride this evening (May 15, 2013) to Main Street Station in Cedarville.

Starting point is the Speedway in front of WalMart in Franklin on SR73 just west of I-75.  Note that this is just west of the Frisch’s that we often start from.  Kickstands up about 5:45pm.

Hope to see you there!
